Animal Control

All Animals Must Be Leashed.

The Animal Control Officer can pick up dogs and cats running at large. If the animal is licensed, every effort will be made to return the animal to its owner. If the animal is not licensed, it will be taken to the St. Croix Animal Shelter and held until the owner has paid all City and Shelter fees.

The City of Lakeland Animal Control Officer is Kathi Pelnar, 715-386-7789. Kathi is on call at this number from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, 7 days a week.

Lost or Missing Pets

If a pet is missing, the following sources should be checked to determine if the animal was perhaps taken to one of the area shelters:

  • Woodbury Animal Shelter 651-730-6008

  • Animal Arc in Hastings: 651-438-9195

  • In winter, animals sometime wander across the ice on the river and are picked up by the Pierce & St. Croix County Animal control facility in River Falls, WI. 715-426-5535

  • You may want to check with local veterinarians as injured animals are sometimes taken by the finder to a veterinarian.
